Foleo Fails to Address Mobile User Needs

Ryan, over at Palm InfoCenter, has posted an article called “Analyst Says Foleo Fails to Address Mobile User Needs“.

In the article, Gartner’s PDA/Smartphone sector analyst Todd Kort goes on about how the Foleo is going to be a flop. While I don’t have access to the entire report, I have to wonder: Has Kort ever said anything good about Palm?

Here is to hoping that Kort is wrong. (Again.)

Hey Alan G. Love the podcast and glad to see this page. Come take a look at my page if you get a chance, http://www.myfoleo.blogspot.com. I am all set to be an early adopter/guinee pig for the device. While the Foleo is looking like a very un-cool or underpowered laptop, if Palm is able to do what they do so well (make things easy to use) I think the Foleo could turn out to be the VW Bug of laptops, not the best but the one that sells the most…. Here is hopeing that they can make the user experiance the best and it will be a success.Adam

I think it will be a niche product and will expand with positive word of mouth. I think software will be plentiful as well due to all of the Linux folks out there.

I agree with Chad. This will be a niche device targeted at a very specific market segment. I’m looking forward to getting one. I just hope that my Treo 700p is up to the task.Once the device gets out there and people see what the specs are and the final hardware configuration is, I think that we’ll start to see the Linux community start writing more applications for the Foleo.

Considering the fact that Palm killed their Foleo product before actually launching it, it is clear that Kort was correct in his assessment of the product.
